We’ve all said this before… right… When I’m [insert adjective], then I’ll [insert action].
“When I’m more fit, then I’ll join CrossFit.” “When I get this content perfect, then I’ll share it with people.” “When I retire, then I’ll get to (do all the things I’ve been putting off for the last 35 years).”
Perfection(ism) – as Winston best put it, is the enemy of progress. When we decide we want to try something new, the opportunity and fear of failure and rejection come knocking. Should we let them in? Heck yes. Should we let them stop us. Heck no. And that’s where great things happen. At the end of fear.
“The person who fails the most, wins.” -Seth Godin.
You know whats really cool about fear? It’s in our control. You get to decide whether you take advantage of this control or let that fear control you. This is what defines your path.
“But what if I fail?” Embrace it. Failure provides an opportunity to grow, learn, change, and inch closer to where you want to be.
“Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth.” -Pema Chodron.
How is fear holding you back today? What small step can you take today to conquer that fear? My tip: Just show up. Wherever that may be. Are you scared of coming to the gym? Are you afraid of trying something new? Could you imagine how different life would be if we gave up at each failed attempt?….So, show up. You may fail. But through that failure, you will discover things about yourself that were once unimaginable. And it is then that you will decide you won’t let fear stop you anymore.
If you’re ready to try CrossFit for the first time – we’re ready for you. #justshowup
